Used in making spirits, wine and other uses to aid producing a smooth, clean end product. Copper ability to bind with the sulfur compounds from the yeast, making hydrogen-sulfide which in turn, forms copper sulfate remains the preffered metal to remove impurities. The copper sulfate gets removed so as to not leave a bad aftertaste.
